Bakuchiol is typically available in serums, creams, or facial peels. You’ll want to zero in on which type you prefer. Serums, for instance, are lighter weight, and are typically applied under moisturizers, whereas creams are usually heavier and applied toward the end of your skin-care routine.
Bakuchiol is often combined with other active ingredients. Scan the ingredient list to see what other actives are included, and use that to inform your choice. Some products combine bakuchiol and retinol to maximize these ingredients’ effects.
First, cleanse and dry your skin, then apply your bakuchiol product followed by a moisturizer, says Garshick. But if your skin is especially sensitive or prone to dryness, you can apply a moisturizer before bakuchiol, which will help buffer potential irritation.
